An interior is a conversation between space and light.

I have always been fascinated by what happens when light is deliberately shaped inside a room  how a surface begins to reveal its texture, how a curve catches a highlight, how a shadow can give depth to an otherwise quiet corner.

My approach to interior photography is not always about waiting for the light that already exists. I like to intervene.

I play with artificial light quite a lot  moving it, shaping it, hiding it, sometimes exaggerating it  to discover another layer of the space. The light becomes part of the composition, almost like another material within the interior.

A beautifully designed space already has a language of its own. My role is to listen to it, and sometimes to create the conditions for it to speak a little louder.

I look for details that might easily disappear in a straightforward photograph  the grain of a material, the edge of a curve, the relationship between two surfaces, the depth inside a shadow. Artificial light allows me to bring these elements forward, to create separation, atmosphere and mood while still respecting the intention of the design.

For me, the photograph is not simply a record of how an interior looks.

It is an interpretation of how it feels.

A room can be quiet, dramatic, warm, sculptural, intimate or mysterious. The way I light it can change the way we experience all of those qualities.

I enjoy that challenge  taking something that already exists and finding a new way of making it visible.

Sometimes the best light is the light that was never there.
